A Feast of West Sussex is my 19th book, and I am as excited about it as I was about my first, over 25 years ago. Part of this is because the local food scene has changed so much (and all for the good) in the decade since my last books were published, and there is a real thirst amongst a growing number of people for great local food. Local food makes sense, whether for ecological reasons or simply for the excitement of cooking with a constantly changing selection of seasonal ingredients, packed with truly fresh flavours.
The result of my passion and 30 years of living and cooking in this glorious county is a book which I hope you will enjoy in your own kitchen, and as a gift for friends. The flavours of West Sussex are captured within the pages. Prepare the recipes and you will be able to share the excitement, freshness and originality of our local foods, and to serve that excitement to yourself, your friends and your family.
Sheila Dillon, the presenter of BBC Radio 4’s The Food Programme, said that the book is ‘utterly relevant, beautifully written and produced’.
