Duration: 37 minutes
I am revisiting my very first podcast about whisky and food, recorded with Richard Barclay of Rannoch Smokery in November 2014. It was such fun! We talked about 2015 being Scotland's Year of Food & Drink, and the celebrations and events for that are now well under way. In this podcast we taste two of the whiskies sampled on MoonBeams #9 - the Gelnmorangie Nectar D'Or and The Dalmore Cigar Malt - well liked on both occasions. Listen again and enjoy!
Rannoch Smokery meats are widely available in UK delicatessens and some supermarkets. The distinctive packaging is sure to draw your eye. Close to home in West Sussex I know that Pallant at Arundel keep a good selection of Richard's meats.
The whiskies tasted are:
The One from the Lakes Distillery, a blend of malts from around the UK.
Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or one of the best known Highland malts, finished in sauternes barrels
The Dalmore Cigar malt a great malt from a lesser-known Highland distillery, finished in cabernet sauvignon barrels
Balblair '99 Second Release Balblair is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, creating distinctive malts marketed by vintage (when distilled) and bottling (the date when blended and bottled).
If you do not have a specialist whisky shop near you - and please check out what your local independent retailers do stock - you will find all the whiskies mentioned available by mail order from The Whisky Exchange.
