Duration 23 minutes
From bananas to wedding rings, there are many opportunities to make consumer decisions which materially improve the lives of some of the world's poorest workers. Ruth and Rosemary discuss Fair-trade and ethical sourcing, and the need for Christians to re-embrace the fair-trade habit as sales drop for the first time in 20 years.

The Waitrose Foundation: It seems that Waitrose have not yet updated their website with the news of their Fair-trade accreditation for the Foundation, but the background to the scheme is here.
The recipe for the banana cake that was Ruth's birthday cake is here. I baked the same mixture in 2 x 18cm sandwich tins for 25 minutes. They were sandwiched together and iced on top with a frosting made from 200g full-fat cream cheese, 2 tbsp icing sugar and 100g melted milk chocolate, all beaten together. If it is Fair-trade, does it have calories?
